Off towards “more intense spheres”
After a euphoric start to the new year, a flu with a fever and severe cough put me completely out of action for two weeks. Lying down, getting up, lying down, coughing endlessly, drinking tea, hardly eating anything for days. I haven’t felt this weak, depleted of energy and strength for a very long time. I’ve lost four kilos, so I’m already at my ideal competition weight for summer 2026 of 60 kg. But with my recovery and regained appetite, the four lost kilos will soon be added back. Also good.
I’m now back in full training mode and have already completed a really good week with 100% of all the training sessions specified by Coach Dan. I’ve now progressed to a slightly higher intensity in my bike training. For the first time, I can do one-minute intervals of well over 200 watts. At the same time, my heart rate also increases accordingly, up to around 165 beats per minute, which is pretty close to the limit for me. The hard intervals alternate with three minutes of compensation.
Training sessions like these focus on the aerobic capacity range, which is so important for endurance performance and needs to be systematically developed – always with my ambitious long-term goal of 2026 in mind.
