Corona Positive: Between Recovery and Exercise

I feel like a racehorse, impatiently pawing at the ground, waiting to finally get going. Yesterday’s positive Covid test forces me to more or less physical inactivity. I did some research: for a mild course like mine, it is recommended to wait a few more days after testing negative before starting active, sweaty workouts. For a severe course, accordingly longer.

During the pandemic, some well-known top athletes did not take this rest period seriously and paid for it with severe long-term health consequences. Everything has its positive side. I am now likely vaccinated for this winter, which makes me optimistic about resuming my high-level training. As of today, it looks like I can start effectively next Monday, November 6, 2023. Today’s workout, however, I can easily do at home in front of the screen. It’s somewhat strenuous but not sweaty.

With Liebscher & Bracht, the creative and witty German therapist duo who promise participants nothing less than “living pain-free to 100 years old.” My dearest life partner of 50 years has sworn by their exercises for a long time, hardly has any joint pain like before, and feels stronger than years ago. Stretching and strengthening muscles and fascia. The exercises are simple and efficient. Six times a week in the early morning for seven minutes under guidance, and 30 minutes on Sundays. I love it and feel myself moving more flexibly again.

What you can safely neglect in your younger years, you should avoid neglecting in older age – especially if, like me, you aspire to walk upright and gracefully through life for many more years.
